Homecoming!

Deployment Recap: Week 31- He’s home!!!! It’s all over!

Emotional: Spent most of the week wishing it would hurry up and be Thursday. Lots of feelings of excitement, happiness and relief that deployment was finally done.

Physical: Took the week off from CrossFit but still went running. Very proud of how healthy I stayed the entire deployment.

Communication: Nothing until Thursday when he stepped off that boat. But after that, does anything else really matter?

Something Fun You did This week: Homecoming preparations- putting up the sign in the chain link fence, a welcome/final fling potluck and then THE big day.

What are you looking forward to next week: Relaxing at home with Lyle when he’s not at work, enjoying all the things we’ve missed doing together the last 7 months.

What made you happy this week: Everything related to homecoming.

What made you sad/mad this week: One small little issue but as a wise woman in my life said “nothing she can say or do will ruin my homecoming”, and as a matter of fact, ruin anything at all in the future. It is SO nice to just walk away from drama.

What do you miss this week: Does this apply anymore?

Favorite song/show/movie of the moment: Daft Punk, Drake, Great Gatsby Soundtrack
 Pictures from This week:
Our "fence sign" made with colored clip-in pieces. It was hard work, but looked great!

A sweet thank-you gift from one of the boat spouses.

The house is all ready!

The boat sailing in to port with the lei we made.

Lyle came home with lots of foreign money.

Lexi is VERY happy that Lyle is home.

Spending time with friends after 7 months at sea.

They love each other. A lot.

Not to be left out the cats love Lyle too.

Week 30!

Deployment Recap: Week 30, a few days late

Emotional: I’m fine. Too busy to have emotions at this point.

Physical: Fabulous- ran the Hibiscus Half Marathon in 2:11:26 for a 10:02/mile pace- my second fastest. Then hiked Koko Head the next day. I’m kinda awesome.

Communication: Limited emails, just because they are so busy finishing everything up.

Something Fun You did This week: I had a great weekend- rested for the race, then Sunday was the race and girls day at the beach/dinner and movies at home, then Monday was hiking, beaching and the Lantern Festival.

What are you looking forward to next week: HOMECOMING!

What made you happy this week: Tackling my ever-growing to-do lists but getting closer and closer to the boat being home. And we signed a new renter for our Charleston house.

What made you sad/mad this week: Life still has it’s ways of being tough, even in times of extreme excitement.

What do you miss this week: Old friends from different times in my life.

Favorite song/show/movie of the moment: Fall Out Boy, The 1975, Atlas Genius.

Are we there yet?

Deployment Recap: 29 weeks is a long, long time.

Emotional: Same as last week- waves of all sorts of emotions. Just gotta choose which waves to surf and which ones to let wash over me, being careful not to let them crash on my head or catch me with my back to the ocean.

Physical: Great. Working on knowing my limits and respecting them more.I bought new running shoes which made for some happy feet this week also.

Communication: There’s email. It’s nice.

Something Fun You did This week: North Shore Road trip on Friday was a blast.

What are you looking forward to next week: It being over? And lots of projects and things on my to-do list to keep me busy. Rookie Blue starts this week also, which is one of my favorite shows.

What made you happy this week: Playing tourist/tour guide with some friends from Maui and Kauai was SO much fun.

What made you sad/mad this week: The sheer number of weeks it has been is enough to get to me. But we are almost there.

What do you miss this week: Watching TV shows with Lyle.

Favorite song/show/movie of the moment: 22 by Taylor Swift. That makes 2 or 3 songs from her that have made the recap this deployment I think. No shame.

Pictures from This week:

Waimea Bay, on the North Shore. We stopped and hopped in the water on Friday.
The view from Wendy's room at Turtle Bay. It was AMAZING.
I love the pool.
Watching surfers while poolside.

Back at Turtle Bay Sunday afternoon for some more pool time. Life is good.

The "new" front yard- I love how this project turned out.

Recap- week 28 over and out.

Deployment Recap: 28 weeks DONE

Emotional: Feelings are much like waves, we can’t stop them from coming but we can choose which ones to surf. I’m surfing this week.

Physical: Had a bad run Sunday. Worst run of the year. But I’m over it. Time to buckle down and get ready to rock the Hibiscus Half at the end of the month.

Communication: Emails here and there. Enough to keep me going.

Something Fun You did This week: My birthday party on the beach! I had so much fun with good friends. I’m lucky to be surrounded by great people that remind how special I am all the time.

What are you looking forward to next week: Starting the “getting ready for Lyle to be home” lists of things to do like cleaning, last minute projects I’ve been putting off for 6 months, taking care of me in the best ways possible.

What made you happy this week: Good friends that take great care of me.

What made you sad/mad this week: Learning of the passing of a family friend.

What do you miss this week: Everything about Lyle. We are so close, but it seems really far away still.

Favorite song/show/movie of the moment: Nothing new or exciting here.

Pictures from This week:
The new Lei for the Submarine!
